The Kingdom of God Is for Children, Not Slaves

The kingdom of God is for obedient children of God and not for slaves. Slaves will receive rewards on earth but will not inherit his kingdom. The kingdom of God is for God’s children, and his children are marked by obedience, not just service. Jesus says that the slave does not abide in the house forever, but only the Son abides in the house forever.

“And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever.” John 8:35 (The word “son” used here means a son (by birth or adoption) or (figuratively) anyone sharing the same nature as their father.)

God tells earthly children to obey their parents so that it may go well with them and that they may live a long life. What makes us think then that as God’s children we can disobey him and live in his kingdom for eternity? God is a greater father than any earthly parent. Gods cannot be bribed by service. Through the Bible we see many whom God used mightily and yet perished because they were disobedient.

“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you.” Exodus 20:12

Serving God is not what qualifies us for heaven, but obedience is. The kingdom of heaven is prepared for God’s obedient children and not for slaves who serve him for wages and perks but don’t obey him. As such, it is not anointing that leads to heaven but holiness. Anointing is for service, and the gifts and callings of God are irrevocable (Romans 11:29). God can use you and still cast you into hell. Remember, even Satan, at the end of the day, in his great rebellion, is still serving God’s purposes whether he likes it or not. God uses him even to perfect his children. Serving God is not a guarantee of inheriting his kingdom.

“A son honors his father, and a servant his master. And if I am the Father, where is My honor? And if I am the Master, where is the fear due Me?” Says YHWH of Hosts to you?, O priests despising My name.” Malachi 1:6

The rewards for service without obedience are on earth. But holiness and obedience are what will grant access to God’s kingdom and dwelling with God as Father forever. It is those who fear and love God who will inherit his eternal kingdom. Love for Jesus is proven by obedience, not feelings (John 14:15).

“If you love Me, you⁺ will keep My commandments.” John 14:15

As obedient childen, be holy as your Father is holy!

The Lord also spoke of many who will come to him on judgment day expecting to enter his kingdom because they served him with mighty works and anointing, but he will tell them he never knew them since they were lawless. To be lawless is to disobey and disregard God’s law, which is what many Christians do while hiding behind “God is love.”

“Not everyone who is saying to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of My Father who is in the heavens. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name do many miracles?’ And then I will profess to them, ‘I never knew you⁺; depart from Me, you working lawlessness!’” Matthew 7:21-23

The Lord’s words above should show us that entering the kingdom of God is not as easy as many make it look. It is a narrow road reserved for the obedient children of God (Matthew 7:13-14). Those who think serving God, speaking in tongues, praying, preaching, attending church, having big titles, and having spiritual experiences are enough to see God are mistaken and have been blinded by the pride and presumption that comes from anointing and service.

It is obedience that God is looking for. Heaven is for his children, and his children are those who obey him. Rebellious people who pick and choose what to obey and presume on God’s grace are not his children; they obey Satan while wanting God’s privileges and will soon find themselves the losers for taking God’s kindness for weakness. God will not spend eternity with those who disobey him.

“As obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, ‘Be holy, for I am holy.’ And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear.” 1 Peter 1:14-17
