Sexual Sins and Direct Link to Mental Health Issues

There is a huge link between sexual sins and perversions (including LGBTQ, porn, masturbation, adultery, sexual immorality, premarital sex, perverse sex, pedophilia, incest, etc.) and depression, suicidal ideation, and mental health issues of all kinds.

Obedience to God’s commands through the Lord Jesus Christ is the KEY solution to most of the problems ailing human beings, but they are not interested. When God gives us commandments to follow, it’s not to keep us from having fun and to keep us in bondage, but to give us true freedom.

God created the world and us, and he understands the deep impact of sin. God is holy. Sin did not originate from God but from the devil. Sin brought death, misery, and destruction.

Sexual sin is the absence of the light and life of God.

When we sin, we separate ourselves from LIFE and LIGHT, which are only found in God. The life of God includes all goodness and all blessings. The blessings of God enrich and add no sorrow (Proverbs 10:22). God’s blessings give us prosperity in all areas of life. Healthy prosperity.

The things that bring torment, bondage, misery, despair, death, etc., do not originate from God but from Satan. They are an absence of life and light. Darkness is the absence of light. Sin is the absence of light and life. All devastation and misery is simply an absence of light, and that light is only found in Jesus Christ, who is THE LIGHT of the world (John 8:12).

Jesus is THE WAY, TRUTH, and LIFE. No man can come to the Father, and thus to blessing and wholeness, except through Jesus (John 14:6). Jesus himself is life because he created us. If we reject him by choosing sin and rebellion, we automatically live in death and darkness, separated from God.

“In Him was life, and that life was the light of men.” John 1:4

Satan has nothing good or life-giving to offer. He is a liar and a thief. Jesus said that the devil comes to STEAL, KILL, and DESTROY. Only Jesus came to give us abundant life/fullness of life (John 10:10).

Sexual sin fractures the body, soul and spirit.

Sexual sins and perversions bring destruction and misery. They FRACTURE and wound the body, soul, and spirit. It’s the only sin where one sins against their own body, according to Paul in 1 Corinthians 6:18. And this is because our bodies were not created for sexual fornication but for God. Sexual union was only meant to be between ONE MAN and ONE WOMAN for life in the proper way and context. This man and woman would become ONE flesh in marriage and sexual union.

When we go contrary to God’s law and get into sexual union with multiple people and multiple illegal sexual lifestyles, we open the door for demons and fragmentation through soul ties. Many mental health problems experienced by those who are involved in sexual sins would be healed if they turned to Jesus for salvation, repented of their sin, and turned away from, denounced, and renounced their sexual sins and soul ties.

“Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a man can commit is outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God with your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:18-20

Obedience to God is our protection.

The moment we repent, turn to Jesus, and live obedient lives, we experience victory in our lives. Everything will not be perfect, of course, but we will not be under the curses of sin, which tend to be catastrophic and destructive to our souls, bodies, and spirits. When we turn to Jesus, we come under the protection and blessing of God. This gives our lives abiding peace, love, and joy because righteousness is the nature of God’s kingdom and his citizens. Only righteousness brings peace and freedom.

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” 2 Corinthians 3:17

Only those who have submitted themselves to God’s kingdom through his son Jesus are protected by God and under his covering because they have turned away from the kingdom of darkness with its sins. Only those who submit to Jesus in righteousness and holiness are kept from the wicked one. Sin opens the door to Satan and demonic spirits.

“We know that anyone born of God does not keep on sinning; the One who was born of God (Jesus) protects him, and the evil one cannot touch him.” 1 John 5:18

Jesus is the only solution.

I’m not saying all mental health issues are connected to sin and demonic oppression, but the majority are connected to one sin or the other, including sexual sin. And sometimes even if not connected to the individuals’ sins, then to those of others, e.g., their parents and families. In all cases, Jesus is the solution to freedom.

“Or do you not know that the unrighteous ones will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor coveters, nor drunkards, nor verbal abusers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. And some of you were such. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” 1 Corinthians 6:9-11

“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is on Me, because the LORD has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and freedom to the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor and the day of our God’s vengeance, to comfort all who mourn, to console the mourners in Zion—to give them a crown of beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and a garment of praise for a spirit of despair. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.” Isaiah 61:1-3
