Knowing the Real Jesus Will Expose a False One

It is only by being familiar with the REAL Jesus that one can recognize a FALSE Jesus.

“And Jesus answered and said unto them, ‘Take heed that no man deceive you.’ For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.” Matthew 24:4-5

Notice that these false ones who would come in Jesus’ name would be saying Jesus is Christ. And that’s why they will deceive many. Many people erroneously think that false prophets cannot say Jesus is Lord or even say that he is the Christ. Well, they can, and Jesus said so.

They have churches where Jesus’ name is mentioned, they use the Bible, and they will even preach some truth, perform miracles, and do many mighty works in his name, but Jesus DOES NOT KNOW THEM and NEVER KNEW THEM (Matthew 7:21-23). That means some other measure must be used to identify them than the obvious one of using Jesus’ name or the Bible.

“Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” Matthew 7:21-23

You shall know them by their fruits.

Jesus himself gave us the key to identifying false prophets. He said we shall know them by their FRUIT, not their gifts.

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore, by their fruits, you will know them.” Matthew 7:16-20

That old idea that servants of Satan can’t say the name of Jesus is naive and not true and just one of the clever tricks Satan invents to dupe people who don’t study the SCRIPTURES to know who JESUS IS. It is only by being familiar with the REAL Jesus that one can recognize a FALSE Jesus who is being preached. Jesus said His sheep know His voice, and a stranger they do not follow.

“And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers … My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” John 10:5, 27

We identify false teachers by getting to know the real Jesus and his Word in the Scriptures. Without knowing the real Jesus intimately, we cannot detect the counterfeit one and will be deceived.

“For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted—you may well put up with it!” 2 Corinthians 11:4
