Prepare to Meet Your God
Each of us has an appointment with God we must and shall keep. Are you ready for yours? Like it or not, it is coming, and you do not know the day or the hour. Either death will take you first, or Jesus will return first. Either way, each of us shall keep that appointment with our maker after this life to face judgment.
“It is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment”
Hebrews 9:27
We shall all give an account of our lives and what we did with the gift of salvation the Father has provided through his son Jesus Christ. Jesus is the only way to the Father. He said:
“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
John14:6
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16
Reflect upon your life. Are you ready to meet God? If not, it is time to get your affairs in order and be ready always. Turn from your sins and turn to Jesus. Do not let that day come upon you like a thief. Face it now while God’s grace and mercy are still available. That way, you won’t face it when it comes to you unexpectedly, because then it will be too late.
Heaven and Hell are real places, and the only way to heaven is repentance and faith in Jesus Christ and his sacrifice on the cross for our sins. Hell is a place of terrible eternal torment, but sadly it is the eternal destination for those who do not make a decision for Jesus. I pray you give your life to Jesus today and receive eternal life!
“Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”
Matthew 24:24
Put your house in order
King Hezekiah in the bible was fortunate to have been given a prior warning by the prophet Isaiah about his death. Isaiah told him, “Put your house in order, for you are about to die; you” (Isaiah 38:1). Most of us will not get that warning however. But God would speak the same words to us today: “Put your house in order”. Death comes upon most people like a trap, suddenly and without warning.
In Luke 12, Jesus gave the parable of the rich fool. The man was exceedingly wealthy and boasted within himself, making plans about how he would live for many years and eat, drink, and make merry. But that very night as he made his big plans for the future, God told him, “You fool! This very night your soul is demanded of you; and as for all that you have prepared, who will own it now?” (Luke 12:20) And Jesus warned, “So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.” (Luke 12:21)
You can have peace with God
The most important thing we can do in life is to be ready for that inevitable appointment with our maker. Nothing else in this life matters more. And God has provided a way for us to face that day without terror and wrath. He gave his only begotten son Jesus Christ to die on the cross and be a ransom for our sins. He did this so that we may not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). God has provided the way for our salvation, and all we have to do is recognize that we are sinners headed to hell and turn to Jesus to save us.
“For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ”
1 Thessalonians 5:9 NKJV
Receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior Today
If you are ready to turn to Jesus, simply get down on your knees and talk to Jesus, confess, and repent of all your sins. Ask Jesus to forgive you of all your sins, and be willing to turn from them. Tell him in your own words that you believe he is the son of God and the savior of the world and that you believe he died for your sins on the cross and paid a price you could never pay. Tell him that you receive him as your Savior and also as your LORD to take over your life and help you live for him all the days of your life. Pour out your heart to him.
If you do this sincerely from your heart, he will receive you and immediately your name will be written in the book of life in heaven. There will be much rejoicing in heaven over your decision to turn from death to life. Get a bible and start reading from the teachings of Jesus in the New Testament to know more about how to follow Jesus, pray daily, find a Bible-believing church to grow in your faith with fellow Christians who will walk with you, and get baptized in water. You are now a member of the family of God and one day when you leave this world you will spend eternity with Jesus and all who believe in him. Do not look back, keep following Jesus to the very end. See you in heaven.
