Sin Loves Company, but Judgment Is an Individual Affair

People will encourage you in sin, but when you face the consequences, you’ll be alone.

When Judas decided to betray Jesus, the Pharisees were very happy to side with him and pay him to betray the Son of God. They even sent a large multitude to accompany Judas in his wicked act when they went to arrest Jesus.

But later when Judas realized the gravity of what he had done and wanted to return the blood money, the Pharisees told him, “What is that to us? See to it yourself.” In his remorse and guilt, he found himself alone. In his suicide, he was alone. In his judgment, Judas was alone. On judgment day, he shall be alone.

Sin is lonely business in the end. When people are sinning, they always have company. There will be people encouraging you, tempting you, prodding you on, and seemingly rewarding your sins. Misery loves company.

Everyone shall bear their own load at the end of the day. You may be enjoying sin with people now, and they may reward you and make you feel very woke and smart, but in hellfire, there will be no friends. On judgment day, when you stand before the great God Jesus Christ whom you have betrayed, there will be no buddies. Everyone shall be trembling over his own sin.

When it comes to saving your soul, you must be selfish. It is not a crowd matter. Carry your own burdens now while there is time to repent and bring them to the Lord for cleansing.

“When Judas, who had betrayed Him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was filled with remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders. “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood,” he said.

“What is that to us?” they replied. “You bear the responsibility (see to it yourself/that’s your problem).”

So Judas threw the silver into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself.” Matthew 27:3-5

“For each one shall bear his own load.” Galatians 6:5

“So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.” Romans 14:12

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” 2 Corinthians 5:10
