As In the Days of Noah and Lot, So Now
Jesus said that the last days that would witness his return would be like the days of Noah and Lot.
Few were saved in Noah and Lot’s day
One of the defining signs of those times is that wickedness increased, FEW were saved, and the majority perished. We should expect it to be the same as the days draw to an end.
We should not, therefore, be surprised when we see the antichrist times we live in, where the fear of God has all but been eroded even in the Church. These are the signs of the times. In Noah’s day, 8 were saved. In Sodom, only 3 escaped. Lot’s wife almost made it, but she turned back, longing for the world she was escaping.
“And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. Likewise, as it was also in the days of Lot: they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. Even so, will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed… Remember Lot’s wife.” Luke 17:26-30, 32
Striving to enter like Noah
Friends, let’s not assume we are among the few who will make it, but strive to make sure we are among the few.
“Then one said to Him, “Lord, are there few who are saved?” And He said to them, “Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able.” Luke 13:23-24
It is our decision to forsake the world like Noah and Lot did that will save us in the end. The days are evil and will get worse. The whole world is under the control of the evil one. To escape the judgment of this world, one must remove oneself from under the power of this world and live from above.
“We know that we are of God and that the whole world is under the power of the evil one.” 1 John 5:19
Noah built the ark to escape the flood, while the rest of the world was making merry and doing life as usual. Lot and his family fled Sodom on a seemingly normal day with nothing. These two men were striving to escape the coming wrath and find safety in God’s will.
Our citizenship is not of this world
As born-again Christians, our kingdom is not of this world. We are in this world but not of it. And so we should not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of our minds. We should set our minds on things above, where our citizenship is.
“They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.” John 17:16
“But our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.” Philippians 3:20
“If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:1-3
The kingdom of our Father in heaven should be what governs our lives in this world. We must seek first his kingdom and his righteousness if we hope to escape the judgment coming on this world and the sons of disobedience.
“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.” 1 John 2:15-17
Having a saving faith like Noah’s
If Noah made it, we can too. God is not a respecter of persons. He has given us all we need for life and godliness through Jesus Christ. But we have a part to play, and ours is to obey and live by faith in God and forsake this world, just as Noah did when he built the ark and testified against the world.
“By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in godly fear built an ark to save his family. By faith, he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.” Hebrews 11:7

Have you given your life to Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Savior? He loves us so much that he, our creator, left heaven and came to earth, died for us on the cross, taking our sins upon him so that we may be forgiven and receive his righteousness.
