Heaven is for Overcomers, not Cowards

Heaven is a place for overcomers, valiant soldiers, and brave souls who dared despise this world and choose God almighty with all their hearts, souls, and minds. Jesus boldly declared that the cowardly would have their part in the lake of fire (Revelation 21:8). Those who are timid about belonging to Jesus, timid about denying sin and this world cannot enter heaven. Jesus said that we must hate our lives in this world to inherit eternal life (John 12:25)

Jesus said those who deny him before men by their lives, words, and actions, shall likewise be denied by him before the Father in heaven (Matthew 10:33). It is not enough to say we are Christians by name only. We must prove it. It is not easy to follow Christ truly, it costs us everything. Jesus said those who follow him must DENY themselves, take up their cross daily, and follow him (Matthew 16:24). Some seem to think they can have Jesus on their lips only as a religion and waltz into heaven. It does not work that way.

In the book of Revelation chapters 1-3, Jesus promised a great reward to all the overcomers in the churches! Just as he overcame this world on the cross, his true disciples likewise must follow his example and lose their lives in this world to gain eternal life. This world is not our home.

Heaven is for those who OVERCOME this world and all it contains (sin, the devil, and corruption). Jesus said, “The kingdom of heaven suffers violence, but the VIOLENT take it by force (Matthew 11:12).” Heaven is a prepared place for a prepared people. It is a country for citizens, not strangers.

“Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy. He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.” Revelation 3:4-5

“And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.” 1 John 3:3
