True Christians Are Not Lawless
Jesus did not abolish God’s law. He fulfilled it and made it possible for us to keep it as he did. A lawless Christian running around with shouts of “grace, grace” is not following the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, who himself is the lawgiver. Jesus said we shall be judged on the last day, not by church doctrines and feelings, but by his WORD. God’s word, the Holy Scriptures, is filled with his laws, which are really his mind.
God is not lawless, and neither did Jesus die to set us free from God’s law (to make us lawless), but from sin. He died to not only atone for sins but also give all those who believe in him HIS SPIRIT so that it is possible for them to obey his father as he did. Jesus’s spirit is HOLY, not lawless. Jesus was not brutally killed to atone for lawlessness so we could continue in it. The cross demonstrates God’s great aversion to sin.
We need to be very careful in these last days of rampant doctrines of twisted grace, which despise and even completely do away with God’s law and say it is not for Christians. Jesus cannot fight against the Father. What the father spoke with his own mouth can not be abolished, and Jesus never came to correct his father or abolish his words but to establish them perfectly. God’s word endures forever. With God it is not yes and no. He means all he says.
Jesus says in Matthew 7:21-23 that many will come in the last day who thought they were following him and serving him, and in fact they went a notch higher and were prophesying and doing many mighty works in HIS name. But Jesus will tell them to depart because he NEVER knew them. Why? Because they were, they practiced LAWLESSNESS. Jesus was speaking about God’s law, not just any law.
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘LORD, LORD, HAVE WE NOT PROPHESIED IN YOUR NAME, CAST OUT DEMONS IN YOUR NAME, and DONE MANY WONDERS IN YOUR NAME?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS!’” Matthew 7:21
A lawless person has no law. He does what he pleases. Any gospel of lawlessness and freedom in grace to just be a good person in one’s own estimate and ignore God’s law is of the enemy. The danger here is grave because it means such people cannot inherit God’s kingdom.
May the Lord help us to examine our doctrines and what we have believed for the love of our souls and come out from among those who teach lawlessness with high-minded intellect and earthly, sensual, and demonic wisdom, for these are synagogues of Satan.
Let us remember our beloved fathers, the apostles of the Lord Jesus, and all they taught and also warned of the last days. Their words are available for us to read, and we have no excuse if we depart from the faith to follow cleverly devised fables of men who want to build kingdoms for themselves in Yeshuas name while denying him and his Father by their works.
“Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ.” Jude 1:3-4
“Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.” 1 Timothy 4:16
“The law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.” Romans 7:12
“Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law.” Romans 3:31
