How to Overcome Sexual Perversions and Bondage
If you want to overcome sexual sins completely, there are things you must do. One of the reasons people never get free from sexual sins is because they refuse to DENY themselves (Matthew 16:24). There is a cost for deliverance and freedom. Jesus has all power, but there are things YOU must do if you want freedom from bondage. Here are a few summarized tips based on my own experience. This is not comprehensive, but it provides a guide on key things to address. Always be guided by the Holy Spirit in prayer based on your specific situation. Please get a Bible and read the verses quoted in this article.
1. Be born again.
You must be born again. You must genuinely submit your life to the Lord Jesus to be Lord and Master of your life. Ask to be baptized with the Holy Spirit and fire.
2. Repentance.
REAL repentance and commitment to leave the sins behind. This means confessing every single sexual sin to God and being willing to leave it behind. (Proverbs 28:13)
3. Fasting.
DRY Fasting. From my experience, I was taught by the Holy Spirit to do 3-day dry fasts when I was repenting and seeking freedom from sexual sins and witchcraft. There is no shortcut. For sexual sins, dry fasting is a must. It is powerful. Do them as often as needed until you’re free. Jesus said, “This kind does not come out but by prayer and fasting” (Matthew 17:21).
4. Breaking soul ties and demonic covenants.
Renouncing (during fasting and prayer) the sins one by one by name, breaking every demonic covenant formed through the sins, and breaking soul ties with every single person you slept with by name in prayer and every demon you united with. Bind the demons and cast them out and burn them with the fire of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:16; Luke 10:19).
5. Get rid of ungodly connections and objects.
Cut off ALL contact with sexual partners, tell them you are born again, and get rid of all sexual objects, materials, photos, gifts, contacts, rings, etc. (Matthew 5:29)
6. Avoid worldly entertainment.
Stop watching worldly television shows and movies (especially those with sexual or sensual imagery and filthy language) and listening to secular music or sensual gospel music. If you keep watching worldly entertainment, you will never be free from lust. (Colossians 3:1-3; Philippians 4:8)
7. Beware social media traps.
Stop following men and women who post seductive pictures on their social media or constantly post photos of themselves, even Christians. Leave social media if you are not using it for the gospel or noble purposes. If necessary, consider deleting your old accounts and starting a new one curated with individuals who share godly values. (1 Corinthians 15:33)
8. Meditate on the word of God and pray daily.
Study and meditate on the word of God and pray daily (Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1). Have a daily personal devotion in the morning. Not just reading a few verses, but actually studying chapters of the Word each day. The word sanctifies and washes (Ephesians 5:26-27). Try to pray at least an hour each day (Matthew 26:40-41).
9. Live a holy and consecrated life.
Live a holy and consecrated life. Avoid worldly entertainment, avoid unnecessary interactions with the opposite sex, especially when alone, and keep your mind focused on the things of God. (1 Thessalonians 4:3, Romans 12:1-2)
10. Dress modestly.
Avoid seductive and sensual dressing, dress modestly, and stop exposing your body and posting photos of yourself all over the place. This kind of habit is of the flesh and exposes one to demons of lust and projections of lust from carnal people. A born-again believer is not supposed to be seeking attention from people based on their looks and body. Get rid of all seductive clothes, perfumes, and adornments, as these attract sex demons. Immodest dressing opens doors to demonic spirits. (1 Timothy 2:9-10; Genesis 3:21; Exodus 20:26).
11. Avoid all appearance of evil.
Avoid all appearances of evil, such as flirting, sexual conversations, jesting about carnal things with the opposite or same sex, and private chats with the opposite sex about meaningless things. Even sharing testimonies of a sexual nature privately with people is not wise. The enemy is very cunning. Don’t give him room. (1 Thessalonians 5:22; Ephesians 4:2)
12. Dealing with sexual dreams.
If you struggle with sexual dreams despite all this, you need to pray against generational witchcraft covenants and dedication to spirit spouses aggressively. Divorce the spirit spouse in prayer, breaking every demonic marriage covenant to demonic incubus and succubus spirits. (1 Corinthians 6:17)
Demons can have sex with humans in the spiritual realm. Remember, we are spirit beings in a body. If you are having sexual dreams, they are not just dreams; the activity is happening spiritually while you sleep. The demons are trying to defile you and plant evil things in you (read Matthew 13:25). When you wake up after such a dream, never ignore the dream: rebuke the demons in the name of Jesus and send the fire of the Holy Spirit upon them and plead the blood of Jesus over yourself and uproot and abort any evil deposit and seed they have planted in you.
Pray before you sleep, cover your body with the blood of Jesus, and live a sanctified life. Keep presenting your body to Jesus as a living sacrifice and ask him to sanctify you. Speak the word of God in 1 Corinthians 6:17, 2 Corinthians 11:2, and Ephesians 5:23-32 to the demonic spirits, reminding them of your marriage to the Lord Jesus. Remember the word of God is the sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17). If you address everything and stay clean, eventually they will leave you alone.
13. Ask the Holy Spirit to sanctify you.
Always ask the Holy Spirit to sanctify you wholly: spirit, soul, and body. (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24; 2 Corinthians 7:1)
14. Sacrificial offering for deliverance
Some stubborn demonic covenants need a sacrificial offering to God to break them. This is especially true with covenants that were also made by demonic sacrifices, such as witchcraft covenants. In 1 Chronicles 21 we find the account where the Lord sent a plague upon Israel, and seventy thousand men of Israel fell because of David’s sin of taking a census. David had to give a sacrificial offering to God to stay the plague from Israel. “And David built there an altar to the Lord, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called on the Lord; and He answered him from heaven by fire on the altar of burnt offering. So the Lord commanded the angel, and he returned his sword to its sheath” (1 Chronicles 21:26-27).
In 2 Kings 3 there is also an account of how the wicked King of Moab defeated Israel in battle by sacrificing his firstborn son to his gods. This strange account shows us the power of sacrifice both in the Kingdom of God and in Satan. “And when the king of Moab saw that the battle was too fierce for him, he took with him seven hundred men who drew swords, to break through to the king of Edom, but they could not. Then he took his eldest son who would have reigned in his place, and offered him as a burnt offering upon the wall; and there was great indignation against Israel. So they departed from him and returned to their own land” (2 Kings 3:26-27).
13. Confess to another
It is also important to confess your sins to someone else (a mature believer or servant of God) and have them pray with you (James 5:16). Satan thrives in secrecy. Expose his works and walk in the light (Ephesians 5:8-11; 1 John 1:7). Secrecy and shame will keep you bound. But please be led by God and don’t go confessing to just anybody. Not everyone has faith or the spirit of God, or knows how to handle sexual bondage; some may discourage you, shame you, or make light of it because they don’t know how to deal with it.
Thanksgiving offerings.
After deliverance, consider giving thanksgiving offerings to God for deliverance in gratitude. Remember, the greatest offering God wants first is yourself (2 Corinthians 8:5, Psalm 50:14, Psalm 116:17).
Before I repented and came back to Jesus in 2023 after being a backslider for 9 years, I was engaged in all manner of sexual perversions you can think of, including abominations. But the Lord Jesus delivered me. He delivered me from sexual bondage using the same means I’ve posted above. It took tears in repentance, fasting, and serious prayer for months to be fully free, especially of the dreams. Sexual sin is terrible. It’s very easy to get into it, but hard to get out of. Strong demons are behind this group of sins, and they are stubborn. You must fight and never give up, stay holy, and never entertain anything or anyone trying to lead you to hell. If you keep opening doors, you will stay defiled. Sexual sins lead to hellfire. Take them seriously and repent!
