Bought with the Price of God’s Own Blood

The price of our salvation was the blood of God himself. Therefore, we must guard our salvation with fear and trembling.

“For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life you inherited from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or spot.” 1 Peter 1:18-19

Our faith cost the Lord Jesus his life. God shedding his blood is not a light thing nor a thing to despise and treat with contempt. If we continue to live in sin willfully while claiming to know him, we do not know him. The Christian who says, “I can sin; God understands, he will forgive me, I’m saved by grace, all my past, present, and future sins are forgiven, and so I can never go to hell” is presuming on the grace of God. They can never go guiltless.

Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people.” It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” Hebrews 10:28-31:

“If anyone says, ‘I know Him,’ but does not keep His commandments, he is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” 1 John 2:4

The door to heaven is paved with the Blood of Jesus.

Heaven is prepared for God’s holy children. It is home for those who have turned away from sin and been washed by the blood of Jesus. It is home for those who respect Jesus enough to obey him even when it is difficult. Yes, they may stumble and sin, but if they do, they immediately find ways to make right where they have offended.

“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” John 14:15

Sin cannot enter heaven; it’s impossible. And this is why, as believers, we should never live with unrepentant sin. Satan was cast out of heaven because of rebellion. What then makes us think God will make an exception for us? What makes us think that he would allow us to enter heaven with our lies, fornication, pride, gossip, bitterness, hatred, adulteries, etc.? It cannot happen because God can never allow sin into his presence.

If God allowed sinners into heaven, the same thing that happened with Satan would happen again. A rebellious person would never abide in heaven before they started wanting to revolt against God, like Satan did. That’s why heaven is for the saints, the redeemed by the blood, the sheep, the obedient children.

We have been bought at a high price.

We are being tested by God every moment. Salvation is not a get-out-of-hell-free card. Salvation is about God adopting children who choose to obey him and his son and be like them. If we choose not to submit to him, let us not expect God to open wide the doors of heaven for us. Such a thing cannot be because God is not a man and is never mocked. He is not a Father to rebels.

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’. Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness.” Matthew 7:21-23:

If we claim to love him but live like devils, we are only deceiving ourselves. If we claim to belong to him but do the deeds of Satan, we are only fooling ourselves. If we claim to know him but do what he hates, we do not know him.

We have been purchased at the high price of the blood of Jesus. We belong to him. Lets seek to please him if we wish to abide with him forever.

“Be doers of the word, and not hearers only. Otherwise, you are deceiving yourselves.” James 1:22

“Why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ but do not do what I say?” Luke 6:46

“For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but it is the doers of the law who will be declared righteous.” Romans 2:13
