Look Upon Christ! He Saves to the Uttermost!

Jesus is not a partial savior;

He saves to the UTTERMOST! (Hebrews 7:25)

He did not save us to leave us to continue the rest of the way alone;

He is the AUTHOR and FINISHER of our faith. (Hebrews 12:2)

He did not do a half job of redemption;

He said, IT IS FINISHED! (John 19:20)

He did not leave us as orphans;

The Holy Spirit dwells in us and with us. (John 14:18)

Why then do Christians live defeated lives encumbered by sin and bondage as if they received a theoretical salvation? I’m truly convinced that it’s because of ignorance of the word and ignorance of what Jesus really did on the cross.

The sad thing is this: what you don’t know will cost you. Ignorance is lethal for a Christian. If you do not have a revelation of what Jesus did for you on the cross, you’ll always live a defeated Christian life, and sadly, that’s what most people are living. They are struggling with slavery to sin as if they were not redeemed. And yet the Bible says we are no longer under the dominion of sin (Romans 6:14) nor slaves to sin if we are in Christ (Romans 6:18).

The solution is not to run for more deliverance and more gimmicks and get people to pray for you, but to KNOW THE TRUTH. The truth is what sets us free (John 8:32). Satan thrives in ignorance and will keep you running in circles if you do not know your savior and what he has done for you. Jesus came to set captives free, and he does just that; look to him (Luke 4:18).

Look upon him and live!

When God sent fiery serpents to bite the Israelites and they cried out for mercy, he told Moses, “Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.” Jesus said, “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up: that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:14

The problem is many do not LOOK UPON CHRIST but are looking all over the place at other lesser things. When we truly behold him with the eye of faith, we are saved.

The things of God are taken by faith. Jesus told the disciples, “Then you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” That means if you don’t know the truth, you will remain in bondage. The truth is God’s word as revealed by the Holy Spirit, as we give attention to it.

Jesus said, “Take heed what you hear. With the same measure you use, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be given. For whoever has, to him more will be given; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.” Mark 4:24-25

Our experience of God depends on the revelation we have of him, and this depends on what we hear. If we are dull of hearing and have no interest in his words and truths, then we have a small measure, and even that little we have will be taken from us.

God is also a good investor. He does not throw his pearls to pigs (Matthew 7:6). If you’ve no interest in his Son and the great work he accomplished on the cross, why should God bother revealing more to you? But to him who has more shall be given.

The wells of salvation are deep, but we must drink willingly. “Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.” Matthew 5:6

“Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.” Isaiah 12:3

Have you given your life to Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Savior? He loves us so much that he, our creator, left heaven and came to earth, died for us on the cross, taking our sins upon him so that we may be forgiven and receive his righteousness. He conquered death by rising from the dead and made a way for us who were dead in sin to be reconciled back to the Father (God). What’s more, he has prepared a wonderful home for us in Heaven, where those who love him and obey him will spend eternity with him.
