The Blessed Hope of the Christian!

As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we have already won. The end is rigged in our favor. The Bible has the end revealed and written, and we know the scriptures cannot be broken. We know who we have believed. We know we have not believed cleverly devised fables. We have trusted in God and his beloved son.

God has promised that if we endure to the end, holding to his son, we shall be resurrected from the dead when Jesus returns and receive incorruptible, immortal bodies that are like his resurrected body.

We shall reign with him on earth for 1,000 years at his second coming, and after this world is destroyed by fire at the final judgment, we shall reign with him eternally in the new heaven and new earth where righteousness dwells. That is our hope.

Our hope is not just for this world. Our inheritance is coming, and it is guaranteed. This world is not our home, and therefore, we should not expect or desire our inheritance and rewards here. What God has prepared for us cannot be compared with this temporary, corruptible world. We have an incorruptible inheritance prepared in heaven for us.

And so we should not lose focus or be moved by the things of this world, good or bad. We must set our eyes firmly on the hope waiting for us if we don’t compromise or lose heart. Soon, our pilgrimage will be over, and we will experience glories unimaginable for eternity.

The book has already been written. We win. God knew the end from the beginning and chose us in Christ for his eternal kingdom. We are simply walking out to an assured end. So why give that up and trade it for a world that will be burnt by fire?

Don’t trade Jesus for a perishing world and an already defeated enemy. It is finished! Christ is King forever.

“For we did not follow cleverly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty.” 2 Peter 1:16

“For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.” 2 Timothy 1:12

“Who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.” Philippians 3:21

“Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.” 1 Corinthians 15:51-53

“Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.” Revelation 20:6

“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.” 2 Peter 3:10

“Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.” 2 Peter 3:13

“Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.” Revelation 21:1

“If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable. The Last Enemy Destroyed. But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.” 1 Corinthians 15:19-20

“to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” 1 Peter 1:4-5

“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” Romans 8:18

“Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 1:13

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love.” Ephesians 1:3-4

“Looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.” Titus 2:13
