Opinions of Men Will Not Get You to Heaven
Do not base your life on people’s opinions about you. FEAR GOD only. God will not consult human opinion when he judges us after death. He will consult only his holiness and his word. God is not capricious or driven by emotions. You can not manipulate God with tears, your good works, or claims to be a “good” person when you die.
God has made it clear that the only way to enter his Kingdom is to believe in Jesus Christ as Savior. Once we have believed in Jesus our names are written in the book of life. And if we continue to obey him as Lord till the end, then and only then shall we shall be known by him.
“he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved”
Matthew 24:13
“And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!”
Matthew 7:23
God never consults human opinions in his judgments
Your money, big titles, beauty, good reputation, and opinions of men about you (good or bad) will hold no water before God. Humble yourself, repent, and turn to Jesus while you have time. It’s better to have men speak evil of you but be known by God. In fact, Jesus told us that it is a dangerous thing when all men speak well of us. This is because it means your works are like theirs. The world hates those who follow Jesus because they testify by their light that its works are evil. Therefore, if all speak well of you, beware!
“Woe to you when everyone speaks well of you.”
Luke 6:26
“If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.”
John 15:18-19
Trusting in man’s opinion is self-righteousness
One of the greatest acts of rebellion is to trust in your own goodness and people’s opinions to save you. This is pride. God has already told us how to become his children and how to have eternal life. If we reject the way he has provided, the death of his own beloved Son for us, and try to create our own way to heaven, we are rebellious creatures. By trusting our own goodness and wisdom, we are following the way of Satan who was the first of God’s creatures to rebel against him.
Obedience is better than sacrifice. God only seeks obedience. That’s why Jesus said only those who convert and become like little children can enter his kingdom (Matthew 18:3). We must quit trusting in ourselves and the opinions of men, and trust in God in obedience.
“Blessed are the poor in Spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 5:3
What’s God’s opinion about you?
The most important thing is to be known and approved of by God and not by men. The whole world may speak well of you, and yet God may speak the opposite about you. This is because God’s judgments are not the same as man’s. His ways are not our ways, neither are his thoughts ours (Isaiah 55:8).
God has only one basis to judge us by and that is his word and his holiness. He cannot violate his own word. And by his own wisdom, he has declared that only those who fear him, put their trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, and obey his commandments are known by and approved of him.
“Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.”
John 14:23
“All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.”
Matthew 11:27
Please God and not men
“For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.”
Galatians 1:10
