7 Keys to Victory over the Devil’s Attacks

If you believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, remember that you have authority in his name over the devil’s schemes and attacks. God is greater than the devil, after all, he created him and threw him out of heaven. Any power he yields, therefore, only comes through cunning and deceit. The devil is only able to attack those who open a door for him. You give him power by opening doors through sin, compromise, and rebellion against God’s ways.

The spiritual world operates through legal rights. When you live in sin and rebellion against God, you automatically move yourself over to Satan’s domain and he has every right to come into your life and wreak havoc through all manner of destruction. Jesus said that the devil only comes to steal, kill and destroy. Demonic attacks usually manifest in oppressions of various kinds: bondage to sin, negative patterns, blocks, disease, and all forms of oppression and depression.

Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world

Whatever you may be facing, remember that in Christ Jesus you have power over the attacks of Satan. But only if you obey God and live in subjection to his kingdom. A citizen who remains in his master’s Kingdom obeying his master’s rules, is safe and protected. But if he goes wandering outside the kingdom, he is open to attacks.

Jesus told us, “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and NOTHING shall by any means hurt you.” Luke 10:19

We have authority in Jesus’s name. In his name, we have the armies of God backing us and have nothing to fear. Your father is greater than all.

“Greater is he that is in you (JESUS), than he that is in the world (DEVIL)).” Apostle John

1 John 4:4

“Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Elisha

2 Kings 6:16

James 4:7-10 gives us the keys to victory over the Devil:

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double-minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.”

James 4:7-10

1. Submit yourself to God

Surrendering yourself to God’s rulership places you in a place of infinite protection. He is the king of kings and Lord of Lords. In Him, we have nothing to fear

2. Resist the devil

Resist all of Satan’s temptations and tricks. Remember that he uses temptation and deceit to lure you away from God’s covering so that you can be vulnerable to his attacks. Resist him by refusing his advances to sin and rebel against God’s ways.

3. Draw near to God

Intimacy and closeness to God through prayer and worship is a weapon against the enemy. When we draw near to God, he draws near to us. What greater place of safety is there than God himself being new to us?

4. Cleanse your hands

This signifies repentance. When we repent of our sins, the devil no longer has any claims over us.

5. Purify your heart you double-minded

Purifying our hearts signifies holiness and righteousness. Holiness is an affront to the enemy. The devil wants us to be double-minded because he knows the double-minded person cannot receive anything from God. Jesus says in Revelations 3 that if we are lukewarm he vomits us out of his mouth. Being single-minded, and focusing on God and his righteousness protects us from Satan’s attacks.

6. Be afflicted and mourn and weep

Godly sorrow over and hatred of sin. When we mourn over our sins and the sins of the world, it reveals that we are walking in fear of God. This is a godly attitude that offers us protection from the temptations of the enemy and his attacks.

7. Humble yourself to God

Give God the glory and don’t exult yourself. Humility is an act of godly submission. It is recognizing that God is the authority above us and a sign that we are depending on him. God honors humility and lifts up (delivers) those who humble themselves before him. On the contrary, he opposes the proud. The proud are easy targets for the devil.

In conclusion:

Pray, submit yourself to God, live a holy life, bless your enemies and forgive them, and then rebuke the evil spirits and they will flee from you. Our war is not with people but against evil spirits. Cover yourself with the blood of Jesus and stay under his covering through obedience and nothing can harm you.
