God’s Name and Character Are Indivisible
God is not divided. Every single one of his attributes makes him who he is. When you cling to only one attribute of God to the exclusion of all others, you have a false god. False doctrines arise because people have a false god of their own imagination.
God is love, but that is not all he is.
God is merciful, but that is not all he is.
God is gracious, but that is not all he is.
God is holy, but that is not all he is.
God is just, but that is not all he is.
God is righteous, but that is not all he is.
When one aspect of God is made the main focus to the exclusion of others, error sets in. For example, holiness without love leads to legalism, and love without justice and holiness leads to licentiousness. God is ONE, and his oneness includes every single one of his attributes to the exclusion of NONE. You cannot divide God into pieces and pick the piece that appeals to your imagination or flesh. Because Jesus is one with the Father, he too embodies every single aspect of God, and this is what he preached in his gospel teachings of the kingdom of God. He preached the mercy, love, grace, justice, holiness, jealousy, righteousness, kindness, and wrath of God (etcetera).

Let us see how GOD identified HIMSELF to Moses when He appeared before him to give him the 10 commandments in Exodus 34:
“5Now the Lord descended in the cloud and stood with him there and proclaimed the name of the Lord. 6And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord God, MERCIFUL and GRACIOUS, LONGSUFFERING, and ABOUNDING in GOODNESS and TRUTH, 7KEEPING MERCY FOR THOUSANDS, FORGIVING INIQUITY and TRANSGRESSION and SIN, BY NO MEANS CLEARING THE GUILTY, VISITING THE INIQUITY of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.”
14(for you shall worship no other god, for the Lord, WHOSE NAME IS JEALOUS, IS A JEALOUS GOD), 15lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they play the harlot with their gods and make sacrifice to their gods, and one of them invites you and you eat of his sacrifice, 16and you take of his daughters for your sons, and his daughters play the harlot with their gods and make your sons play the harlot with their gods.” (Exodus 34:5-7; 14-16)
God identified himself fully to Moses and we see he included mercy, goodness, truth, long-suffering, justice, punishment, forgiveness, jealousy. And his name Yhvh (Derived from the Hebrew verb הָיָה (hayah), meaning “to be” or “to exist”).
To know God is to fear him. He is a great and terrible God and is not to be divided against himself by taking one of his names/characters at the expense, exclusion of, or discarding of others, which we may not like.
