Biblical Headship in a Gender-Opposing World
When a society moves away from the headship structure that God himself set in place by his authority and wisdom, all hell breaks loose. We see that in our times. Many millennials, Generation Y, Z & Alpha have never seen a society where marriage, church, and society function as God intended because society has so eroded.
In God’s wisdom, this is the order he has put in place as laid out in 1 Corinthians 11 and Ephesians 5:
- God
- Christ
- Man
- Woman
“2Now I praise you, brethren, that you remember me in all things and keep the traditions just as I delivered them to you. 3But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.” 1 Corinthians 11:2-3
“For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.” Ephesians 5:23
Man is not from woman, but woman from man
“8For man is not from woman, but woman from man. 9Nor was man created for the woman, but woman for the man.” 1 Corinthians 11:2-3
Eve was not formed like Adam. She came from the man after everything was created, and the man had been given dominion over all things to be his suitable helper. But somehow Satan has corrupted most people to think this is a bad thing, to be a helpmate, and somehow makes women inferior. But it does not. A wheel never feels inferior to a car. The car needs the wheel, and the wheel can’t function without a car. That’s just an example; that function does not mean superior or inferior; it’s just a function.
“11Nevertheless, neither is man independent of woman, nor woman independent of man, in the Lord. 12For as woman came from man, even so man also comes through woman; but all things are from God.” 1 Corinthians 11:11-12
The woman was made for man and not man for woman. But in Christ, we are equal in value and salvation. So the issue of headship is not one of inherent value or importance unless it is twisted by men and women who are in the flesh. Men are supposed to lead, and women are supposed to help them suitably. It’s supposed to be a complementary relationship.
Feminism’s influence over the church
From the time the feminist movement started in the 1800s, things began to fall apart. Satan attacks the headship because he knows how important it is and how it reflects God’s authority which he opposes. Satan is creating his upside-down system where there is no headship, gender, or submission to God.
The feminist movement has affected society in more ways than we imagine. Everyone is affected. Churches in the late 1900s began to outrightly compromise on God’s word, influenced by growing feminism, to accommodate women. E.g., having women elders/pastors/bishops/overseers.
This has slowly led to the decay we have now, where gender roles are blurred in dressing, behavior, function, marriage, raising children, the church, and society.
Men are not leading, women are not helpmates, women want to exercise authority over men, women want to be men, women feel they can raise children without men, men don’t want to get married, women are afraid of marriage, children are being robbed of their gender identity from babyhood, men want to be women, men want to be accepted by women, men are afraid of women, women have no respect for men, and homosexuality and transgenderism have grown wild as an offshoot of radical feminism as gender roles have been completely obliterated.
To find men who are real men and women who are real women as God intended is rare, and where they exist, they are looked down upon as old-fashioned or somehow weak.
God is not the author of confusion
“For God is not the author of confusion but of peace.” 1 Corinthians 14:33
God is not an idiot. When he created men and women, he knew what he had in mind and what would make for healthy families and societies. But because we have rejected his plan and embraced Satan’s plan, the father of all rebellions, we all can see where the world is today. Over 50% of all marriages in America end in divorce, and the world is following suit fast! Kenya, which rarely saw divorces 2 decades ago, now has many young marriages ending within the first few years even in the church.
Feminism opened the door for the LBTQ movement. Both of these have one thing in common: attacking creation gender roles and male headship, which is essentially fighting God. Satan is essentially fighting males, as when he does that, he is attacking Christ, who is the head of man. This is the same tactic in the beginning when he went behind Adam’s back to seduce Eve, to attack Adam indirectly.
As a result of rampant feminism and LGBTQ ideology, there is a rise in deliberate surrogacy, single-parent families as divorce becomes normal, women choosing to have and raise kids alone, gay men and women raising kids, men and women fighting for dominance, and a generation of confused and genderless children rising. When gender roles are ignored and devalued, the image of God is eradicated, and society starts to head into total anarchy. That is where we are headed. We cannot know who we are apart from our gender and God’s assigned functions and positions for us in his creation as men and women.
When the foundations are shaken, what can the righteous do?
We are in dangerous and unprecedented times as society heads to total collapse. But when the foundations are shaken, what can the righteous do? We can all individually come to our senses and repent of all the ways we have gone out of God’s will in his headship design, gender roles, and plan for marriage, family, and church. We can repent, change our minds, agree with God fully, and submit to his design, and we can change our own families and our own lives even as society crumbles. We can choose.
Noah was a righteous man, alone in his generation, and he and his family were saved. You can stand and decide to conform fully to God’s plan for men, women, families, and the church for yourself. You can decide to raise godly offspring who know what male and female mean and behave and dress accordingly and see it as a thing of beauty and honor and not one of backwardness. Don’t gender-confuse your children in dressing and hairstyles (it starts there).
You can decide not to marry a Jezebel or be married to an Ahab. You can decide to no longer be a Jezebel and no longer be a weak Ahab. You can think with the mind of Christ and see that submission to your husband and authority is a beautiful and protective thing, and that loving your wife as Christ loved the church is a beautiful and not weak thing. Be a man and be a woman as God designed you to be in speech, conduct, dressing, and mindset, and be proud of it. God’s ways are perfect and the only source of true joy and peace.
Flee from this woke and confused generation!
- Ephesians 5: “25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 28So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: 30For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.”

But if it is shameful for a woman to be shorn or shaved, let her be covered. 7For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. 8For man is not from woman, but woman from man. 9Nor was man created for the woman, but woman for the man. 10For this reason the woman ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels. 11Nevertheless, neither is man independent of woman, nor woman independent of man, in the Lord. 12For as woman came from man, even so man also comes through woman; but all things are from God.13Judge among yourselves. Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered? 14Does not even nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor to him? 15But if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her; for her hair is given [a]to her for a covering. 16But if anyone seems to be contentious, we have no such custom, nor do the churches of God.”
